Local Corn Maze made for All Ages

Corn Maze and Other Activities in Mountains of NC

As fall approaches the mountains, the Ashe County Corn Maze returns for another season. Maze owner Marty Peters said that he and co-owner Daniel Roten started the maze back in 2005 and have continued the tradition ever since.

The maze has six different stations where there are a series of questions and clues. If children correctly answer all of the questions, they win a prize. "It is sort of like a scavenger hunt,? he said. Walking the maze typically takes between 25 minutes and a hour. The difference in time depends on if those participating are stopping at the different stations. While the maze is big, people have never been lost for substantial amounts of time. "We?ve never had to go in and get anybody out, " Peters said.

Peters said that the corn maze has more than the actual maze, including concession stands, horseshoes , corn hole and other games. "It?s for all ages, not just for kids,? he said. The corn maze will run from Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 21 to Oct. 27. The maze will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. The maze is located at 644 Roy Goodman Road, in Crumpler.
