Lansing Hosts Fifth Annual Ola Belle Reed Festival August 13-15

The Ola Belle Reed Festival featuring Ola Time, Bluegrass, Americana and Celtic music will be held at the Lansing Creeper Trail Park Aug. 13 to 15. The line-up includes the Mosier Brothers, None of the Above, Ceol Leinn, Big Daddy Love, The Sheets Family, Steve and Ruth Smith, Aaron Lee Tasjan, The Harris Brothers, Elkville String Band, Curley Maple and the Ola Belle Reed Family.
The new venue will offer much needed shade, Big Horse Creek for wading and pedestrian access to Downtown Lansing shopping. Primitive camping is available on-site.
Admission to the festival is free and donations are welcome. The festival is a fundraiser for Greater Lansing Area Development (GLAD), a 501(c)3 community development non-profit.
Sunday's program will feature Jeff Mosier and The First Annual Porchestra at 12:30 p.m., featuring 25+ Old Time and Bluegrass musicians performing the history of Mountain Music from the Celtic Roots to the branches of Alternative Bluegrass. The brainchild of Jeff Mosier, from Blueground Undergrass and Mosier Brothers, the Porchestra (porch and orchestra) is, "a new kind of jam, an eclectic mix of indigenous musical instruments and tunes all played in symphonic porch style fashion." Participants include members of the Mosier Brothers, Big Daddy Love, Mack and Sherry Powers, Dick Wilson, Child Chiles, David and Noel Blackmon, Martha and Emily Spencer, Ralph and David Reed, Tom Atkinson and more. All musicians and singers are welcome to participate. A rehearsal jam will begin at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14. Attendance at the rehearsal is not required for participation on Sunday.

GLAD is dedicated to economic revitalization through the preservation of heritage and traditions in Lansing and the surrounding region.
