Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts

The Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts is a 1,673-seat multi-use auditorium located on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. The Center features orchestra and balcony level seating and a proscenium stage. The Schaefer Center is also home to the Smith Gallery.

The Center is dedicated to enhancing the artistic and cultural landscape of Appalachian State University and the surrounding region by providing a venue devoted to the year-round presentation of campus and community events that enrich, educate, inspire, and promote quality of life.

Over 150 events are scheduled annually at the Schaefer Center. The Schaefer Center Presents series features a diverse mix of music, dance and theatre performances throughout the academic year, as well as free K-12 school shows. Concessions are available at all major events, and can be brought into the theatre.

John A. Walker Community Center

The John A. Walker Community Center is proud to be this region’s premier venue for cultural experiences in Wilkes County and surrounding areas and to serve as the preferred gathering place for meetings, weddings, receptions, conventions, banquets, and parties.

The Walker Center hosts a variety of theatrical and musical events throughout the year, including many K-12 school shows.

The Wilkes Community College campus outdoor theater also hosts Merelfest, America's top roots based music festival, annually the last weekend of each April.

Ashe Civic Center 

I Ashe County Little's Theater I West Jefferson, NC I 

The Ashe County Civic Center's 282 seat theatre/auditorium is home to a wide variety of events including music, theatre, dance and more.

They are conveniently located off Highway 221 between Jefferson and West Jefferson. The Ashe Civic Center offers plenty of free parking.

The Ashe County Little Theatre performs a number of plays and musicals at the Ashe Civic Center each year. Click HERE to learn more.
