Christmas in July Festival - July 6, 2019

CHRISTMAS IN JULY FESTIVAL, WEST JEFFERSON, NC – JULY 6, 2019

The 33rd Annual Christmas in July Festival, West Jefferson – July 6, 2019 takes place in the quaint town of West Jefferson, North Carolina.  The festival began as a way to promote the local Christmas Tree Industry, and boy has it worked!  Ashe County (home of West Jefferson) was named the largest producer of Christmas trees in the nation!  The 33rd Annual Christmas in July Festival features many Christmas crafts, a tree baling competition…and a chance to visit with Santa Claus. Some people say it is never too early to start your Christmas shopping.  This festival truly has something for everyone.  You can do a little early Christmas shopping, listen to some great local mountain music and watch traditional dance such as flat footing and clogging, eat festival food (including the BEST homemade ice cream!) or grab something fresh from the farmers’ market (get the green beans!). There is plenty to entertain kids, including street performers with magic tricks, bubbles and music, a giant puppet parade and children’s activities.

The kickoff is Friday, July 5 from 3pm to 10pm and the festival is Saturday July 6 from 9am to 7pm!

TIPS:

(1)  Entrance into the festival is free, but parking is available for a few dollars around the festival.  The earlier you arrive the closer the parking you will find.

(2)  Bring a light jacket and an umbrella, as well as sunscreen.  The weather can change fast in the mountains and there is little shade at this festival.

(3)  If you plan on watching the live bands, you might consider bringing a folding chair with you.
