The Autumn At Oz Festival is the largest Oz festival in the world!   A combination of your standard festival with arts & craft, handmade trinkets, memorabilia, & food vendors, it also includes a completely immersive theatrical experience where guests are engulfed into the classic story as you travel into the Gale Kansas Farm, through the tornado experience, and down the yellow brick road to the Emerald City.

The 41st Annual New River Canoe Race and Family Float will be held Saturday, September 23, in Jefferson, NC. This Ashe County tradition is sponsored by generous donations from community sponsors. Proceeds from the race support the restoration work at the Wagoner Access being done by the New River Conservancy . Whether you compete, float for fun, or just spectate, come enjoy a beautiful day on the banks of the New River!

The Inaugural Hellbender Bike Ride will take place on Saturday September 9th, 2023. Riders can choose to participate in either the 30-mile or 70-mile route, or the Pond Mountain Challenge, each route starts and ends in Historic Downtown Lansing, NC.

The Ashe County Arts Council is excited about the 2023 ASHE COUNTY BLUEGRASS AND OLD TIME FIDDLERS CONVENTION!  The Arts Council is committed to preserving and honoring the musical heritage of our community, and what better way to do that than with a super weekend of music!

The 52nd annual Fiddlers Convention will be held at Ashe County Park July 28-29, rain or shine.

“The Festival began in 1987 as a celebration of the Christmas Tree Industry Ashe County, NC is known for. In 2015, Ashe County, NC was named the #1 Christmas Tree producer in the United States. The Festival is a free-admission event held in Downtown West Jefferson featuring the very best in traditional mountain music, handmade arts & crafts vendors throughout the region while still celebrating the Christmas Tree industry. Numerous food vendors feature a variety of the infamous delicious festival foods & more.

Children’s activities, roving performers, fun competitions, non-profits and the Farmers’ Market are also part of the festival each year.”
